Abstract

The problem of oil recovery from carbonate reservoirs is one of topical issues for research due to depletion of oil reserves in terrigenous reservoirs and low production rates in the prolific carbonate reservoirs accompanied by poor extent of field development drilling activity. In light of the above, opportunities for sustaining and incrementing oil production in the Republic of Tatarstan are associated with bringing into production the carbonate reservoirs. Hence, lessons learned from implementation of waterflooding in carbonate rocks are crucial for improvement of field development practices.
